Dear Resident
Firstly many thanks to all of you who voted for me returning me as the councillor for Newport North which now includes the old Fairlee Ward, South Whippingham and part of the former Newport Central Ward and stretches along the Briddlesford Rd and Long Lane.
I am very pleased to be able to continue the work I started in 2005 and pledge to serve you all and ensure I continue to represent you fairly and with deligence.
I was very pleased to open the new Skateboard Park in Seaclose Park and hope that the young people who helped me see the project delivered will ensure they look after this excellent amenity.
Many thanks to Mr Flack opf the Fairlee Service Station for donating £1k to help with the refurbishment.
I continue to Chair the Seaclose Park User Group meetings I set up and any ward residents that are interested in hearing how they can help with this project do contact me.
I was pleased to meet several residents groups over the past three weeks and am particularly pleased to assist resolve issues causing concern in and around the Island Harbour area and in North Staplers.
There are a number of traffic matters not least speeding in the Staplers and Briddlesford Roads that I am tackling.
I was very pleased that the IW Festival arrangements were much improved from last year and I will continue to ensure residents views are heard and that the area benefits in some way not least to help rebuild the park pavillion that is derelict at present.
You will be aware that the ward is vast and covers a wide diverse area and it is my hope we can establish a cluster of community groups to assit me keep in touch with you all.
If this is of interest do let me know and in the meantime the meetings I am arranging to address specificissues will give me a chance to meet more of you in my travels.
Aside of my ward duties I have been appointed to the IWC Cabinet and now have portfolio responsibility for Children, Health ,Adult Social Care, and Housing including the Voluntary Sector.
My portfolio covers all the care and support and wellbeing elements that will ensure some of our most vunerable residents receive support and care, have homes and are safeguarded from harm and I would be pleased to hold a meeting to let any interested residents living in my ward have a greater insight into what this extra responsibiilty entails. So please let me know and I will arrange a meeting if there is enough interest.
Do contact me if I can help at anytime. My details are posted on this webpage.
Kind regards Dawn
