This Press Release has expired.

Residents are being invited to give their views about boundaries and electoral arrangements of Town and Parish Councils as part of a review being carried out by the Isle of Wight Council.

The local authority has commenced a Community Governance Review, which aims to secure effective and convenient local government that represents the interests of local communities. The Isle of Wight Council is undertaking the review with the support of Parish and Town Councils, some of which have requested alterations to be made to their electoral arrangements.

The consultation period begins on 16 July 2010 and initial submissions should be made to the council by 1 October 2010. Draft recommendations will then be published on 30 November 2010, with a further opportunity for interested parties to comment on the report.

Running alongside this period of consultation is a review of Polling Districts and Polling Places. Any comments about the suitability, location of such places should also be submitted to the council no later than 1 October 2010.

Any alterations to any aspect of boundaries or electoral arrangements as a result of the consultation will take effect from the 2013 local elections.
