Visit the Arts Unit website

The Island’s Arts Service was established to ensure that the arts play a key and dynamic role in enhancing the quality of people’s lives. As a result their website has become a central information point for the huge variety of arts activity on the Isle of Wight.

The Arts Unit is run by Isle of Wight Council and comprises of a small team of dedicated individuals based at the Guildhall in Newport.  Through the promotion and development of arts of quality and originality, it is hoped that we will develop a stronger sense of artistic creativity on the Island.

By accessing the Arts Unit website you can add details of your own event to the What’s On listings; a comprehensive guide to live music events, theatre productions, book signings and fairs, arts and crafts exhibitions and dance demonstrations. You can also find information about the Arts Away Rural Touring scheme – professional live performances of Drama, Music, Puppetry, Comedy, Dance & Children's Shows in the Isle of Wight’s own towns and villages. Join the mailing list to be kept up-to-date with all the latest news.

The site contains details of training workshops including regular updates of new courses and activities as well as everything you need to know if you’re interested in becoming involved in any aspect of dance, theatre, carnival or exhibiting fine artwork at an Island gallery. The Isle of Wight Arts Directory includes listings of over 70 local artists and contact details for all major Arts organisations on the Island. This can be found on the Arts Unit website along with useful links to Island, national and funding organisations and details of local public art schemes.
