ISLE OF WIGHT RECORD OFFICE![]() Speed's Atlas 1627 * * * * * * * RECORD OFFICE CLOSURES Stock Take The Isle of Wight Record Office will close this year for essential stocktaking from Thursday 4th December to Wednesday 10th December 2008 inclusive. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Christmas The Christmas closure this year will be from 1pm Wednesday December 24th 2008 to 9am Friday 2nd January 2009. * * * * * * * The Record Office preserves historical documents relating to the Isle of Wight and makes them available to the public for research. Our collections date from the 12th century to the present day, and include parish registers of baptisms, marriages and burials, local government archives, school log books and admission registers, maps, newspapers, census returns, as well as prints and photographs of local towns and villages. You can use the collections to research your FAMILY HISTORY, HOUSE HISTORY, LOCAL HISTORY and EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS. Anyone is welcome to visit the Office and there is no charge for consulting the records.
