Notice of Consultation for The Dog Exclusion (Isle of Wight) Order 2010
The Isle of Wight Council proposes to make a Dog Control Order under section 55 of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 amending the areas of beaches that dogs are prohibited from entering during the period of 1st May to 30th September each year. This order would revoke the existing order.
The order increases and decreases the areas to which dogs will not be permitted during 1st May to 30th September.
The proposed Dog Order does not apply to access land on the Island within the meaning of the Countryside Rights of Way Act 2000.
It is proposed that the Dog Control Order will provide enforcement powers for the following offence:
- It will be an offence if a person in charge of a dog(s) allows it/them to enter specified beaches on the Island during the period of the 1 May to the 30 September.
The beaches to which this order will apply are shown on maps that would be annexed to the order. During this consultation period anyone wishing to inspect the proposed Order and annexed maps may do so free of charge in office hours at County Hall, High Street, Newport, Isle of Wight, all libraries, Help Centres or online at the Council’s website
