Question: How can I check whether a Park, Garden, Open space or Beach is owned by the council?

Answer: Not all areas where the public can go are owned by the Isle of Wight Council. But if not we can usually suggest who might own them. Please contact the Recreation, Leisure and Public spaces service for further information on 01983 821000.

Question: How do I dedicate a tree on the Island?

Answer: The council no longer provides a tree dedication service as, at present, there are not enough suitable locations for new trees. If new park land is dedicated or acquired in the future then we hope to invite tree dedications again.

Question: Do I need to book a Tennis Court at Seaclose Park?

Answer: These Tennis Court's are used on a first come first serve basis and are free to the public.

Question: How do I go about reporting an accident or dangerous occurrance in a public park or beach?

Answer: Please inform the council as soon as it is practical to do so. Contact the Recreation, Leisure & Public Spaces department to report the incident and for further guidance. If urgent action is required (for example if a site is in a dangerous condition and needs to be dealt with) then give the necessary details. Out of normal office hours please use the out of hours emergency number 01983 821105 who can pass on the necessary information to the correct person.

Question: How do I dedicate a seat or bench on Isle of Wight Council land?

Answer: Unfortunately, there are no dedicated bench opportunities currently available and the council is at present not actively installing new benches.
