All foster carers receive an allowance for a child, or children, who are living with them to cover the costs of food, clothing, pocket money, bills and activities.

Pocket Money

We encourage carers open a post office/bank account for a child and save where possible a small amount each week. The details of these savings will be passed on when young people move placement and the final sum will be given to fostered children when they cease to be looked after or when deemed appropriate by the child’s social worker.

Summer Holiday Activity Allowance

 

This payment is to cover holiday expenses (e.g. either family holidays away from the home or day outings and will be paid as a one-off payment, at the beginning of July.
