Reporting A Scam

Many scams go unreported, this is usually due to the embarrassment and shame that victims feel when they realise that they have been scammed.

However it is really important that any incidents of scams are reported to us. Although we cannot act on them this provides valuable intelligence and we hope to be able to use these reports to warn other potential victims of the current scams that are affecting our Island residents.

  • For advice on scams call - Citizens Advice consumer Helpline: 0808 250 5050

  • To report a scam call - Action Fraud: 0300 123 2040 or www.actionfraud.police.uk

  • Phishing emails can be forwarded to report@phishing.gov.uk

  • The public can report any type of SMS scams by forwarding the original message to 7726, which spells SPAM on your keypad.

Alternatively If you or someone you know is being scammed you can report it to us at trading.standards@iow.gov.uk. If you are just advising us of a scam that you are aware of so that we can update our pages we may not reply to you, however your information is invaluable to us in protecting other more vulnerable residents.
