Opening times

The Museum of Island History is temporarily closed it will re-open on Saturday 30 November 2019 for a free entry morning (10am – 1pm).  Come and see the new exhibition ‘A Tale of Two Shipwrecks’.

The museum will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays (10am – 1pm) from 3 December 2019.

The museum will be closed over the Christmas period closed 24 December 2019 – reopening on 2 January 2020.

Finding Us

The Museum of Island History is located in the centre of Newport, the county town of the Isle of Wight.

By Foot – The Museum of Island History can be found in the lower High Street, in the centre of Newport.

By Bus – The Museum of Island History is less than 5 minutes’ walk from the central bus station in Newport. Visit the Island buses website provided by Southern Vectis for more information about bus travel on the Isle of Wight.

By Car – There is no parking at the Museum but there is pay and display on-street parking nearby as well as several pay and display car parks in central Newport.
