We aim to make iwight.com as accessible as possible to the widest range of visitors and service users. The Isle of Wight Council is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. As such we are continually working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to best practice guidelines.
To help with this please read the guidance below and look at some of the tools we have included on the website.
Magnify the Screen
It is easy to magnify the screen and view a larger version of the website. Rather than rely on additional software to do this the best way is to use the 'Zoom' feature built into all modern internet browsers.
If you use Internet Explorer you can change the zoom level using the zoom options in the bottom right of your browser window. Simply click the arrow and choose the zoom level you prefer.
If you use Google Chrome click the icon to 'customise and control Google chrome' in the top right of the browser to change the zoom level.
In Firefox from the browser menu select 'View' and then 'Zoom' to change the zoom level.
In all browsers holding the 'ctrl' key and pressing the '+' key will make the browser window bigger, holding the 'ctrl' key and pressing '-' will make it smaller again. This works in all webpages not just iwight.com.
On iwight.com we have designed the website to be as accessible as possible. For example the layout of the website is designed to work for people using assistive technology such as screen readers. We have significantly simplified the navigation to ensure that content is relevant and easy to find. We have also reduced the size of and complexity of the web pages to ensure they are as quick as possible to use.
