Question: Who is responsible for the maintenance of properties owned by The Isle of Wight Council?

Answer: Property Services arrange for any maintenance work to be carried out on properties owned by the Isle of Wight Council.

Schools
Some property related responsibilities have been delegated to the school Governing Body. In the first instance a school property enquiry should be referred to the head teacher who will then deal with the matter appropriately.

When reporting a maintenance enquiry please give as much information as possible e.g. name of building.

Answer: The Isle of Wight Council do not have any information on ownership records if we do not own the land. For more information please contact your local LAND REGISTRY (023 9276 8888) office who can search for the registered owner. Please note that the Land Registry office will make a small charge for their service.

Answer: Property Services do not carry out any maintenance on Housing Association properties. All maintenance enquires should be directed to the relevant Housing Association.

Question: How do I find out if The Isle of Wight Council owns a particular piece of land or property?

Answer: Property Services can tell you if the Isle of Wight Council owns a piece of land or property by contacting Property Services on 821000. You will need to give the officer as much detail as possible i.e. House number, Road name, local landmark etc.

Answer: Property Services currently have let the following type of premises:
Light Industrial Units
Car Parking Spaces
Offices
Concessions
However, there is limited availability and all enquiries sould be passed on to the Strategic Assets Team on 823266.

Answer: A list of Council owned property assets can be found at 'Transparency - Our Assets'.

Alternatively please put the request in writing along with a plan of where the land is to Corporate Estate Management, Shared Service Centre, C/O County Hall, High Street, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 1UD.
