Housing Benefit - Local Housing Allowance (LHA)
Service Description: From 7 April 2008 Local Housing Allowance (LHA) was introduced for some private tenant Housing Benefit claimants.
Local housing allowance (LHA) is used to work out how much housing benefit a person can get if they rent their home from a private landlord. The Local Housing rates are set each April by the Rent Service which is part of Her Majesty’s Revenues and Customs Valuation Office. LHA has many of the same rules as housing benefit, but there are some extra rules that limit the amount of help you can get for a private rented home.
