Public Health - Local Area Coordination

Introduction

Our Local Area Coordinators.

Service Update:

With great sadness the Local Area Coordination programme will be closing on 31 March 2019.

From the 8 November 2018 we cannot accept any further referrrals for this service.

On the 8 November 2018 the Isle of Wight Council Cabinet decided to cease funding of the Local Area Coordination programme due to budget constraints. As a result, the service will close at the end of March 2019. Unfortunately this means we are unable to take any further introductions/referrals.

The service will close on 31 March 2019 and by that time all of the people the Local Area Coordination team are currently supporting will have been supported to enable them to access other support services or opportunities of their choosing.

There are a wide range of organisations that support people through a variety of challenges. This could include help with improving health and wellbeing, mental health, difficulties with housing, finding work, understanding how to access benefits, needing support to overcome loneliness, help with everyday tasks such as shopping.

The online Isle Help directory (www.islehelp.me) lists the organisations that can help. This service can also be accessed if you visit the Isle Help Hub, which will be available on the ground floor of County Hall from end of November 2018.

If you are unsure what would be helpful, the Living Well Service can assess your needs. Living Well can be contacted on 01983 525282 and by visiting Age UK website.

If you are concerned about a child, call the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on 0300 300 0117.
