Short Breaks is a statutory service funded through Children's Services by the Isle of Wight Council and aims to increase activity opportunities available for children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs to participate in.
This in turn provides a ‘short break’ for parents/carers while their child or young person participates in a safe, fun and enjoyable activity which meets their needs. Check out the Short Breaks Summer Guide 2019 (PDF, 7280KB, 36 pages). The guide gives you information on the activities available through the Short Breaks programme.
Short Breaks offers a range of after-school clubs, evening and weekend activities and overnight stays for children and young people (up to their 19th birthday).
Additionally, Short Breaks provides a range of facilities for families to use; Short Breaks lodge at Nodes Point and the Short Breaks caravan at Lower Hyde along with hoists and Landeez wheelchairs which enhance accessibility on the Isle of Wight.
