Short Breaks

Introduction

Service Update - Covid-19

Due to the COVID-19 crisis Short Breaks sessions have temporarily been suspended. We hope to resume activities soon once restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so. In the meantime if you would like to speak to one of the Short Breaks Team please see the contacts page for details.

Short Breaks is a statutory service funded through Children's Services by the Isle of Wight Council and aims to increase activity opportunities available for children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs to participate in. It also helps provide a ‘short break’ for parents/carers while their child or young person participates in a safe, fun and enjoyable activity which meets their needs.

The new Short Breaks Summer Activity Guide will be available very soon. The guide gives you information on the activities available through the Short Breaks programme. Short Breaks offers a range of after-school clubs, evening and weekend activities and overnight stays for children and young people, up to their 19th birthday.

Short Breaks provides a range of facilities for families to use. For example, the Short Breaks caravan at Lower Hyde along with hoists and Landeez wheelchairs which enhance accessibility on the Isle of Wight.
