Gurnard Neighbourhood Development Plan

Results of Referendum

A referendum asking 'Do you want Isle of Wight Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Gurnard Parish to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?' was held in the parish of Gurnard on 7 September 2017.

The result of the referendum was:

  • Yes – 390 (88.43%)
  • No - 51 (11.56%)
  • The turnout was 28.23%.

Following the positive result in the referendum, the Isle of Wight Council 'made' (brought into force) the Gurnard Neighbourhood Development Plan as part of the Isle of Wight Council's development plan on 11 September 2017.

Submission of plan proposal to examination (Regulation 17)

The Isle of Wight Council, with the agreement of Gurnard Parish Council, has appointed Deborah McCann BSc MRICS MRTPI Dip Arch Con Dip LD as the independent examiner to undertake the examination into the proposed Gurnard Neighbourhood Development Plan.

Designation

The Isle of Wight Council has designated the Gurnard Neighbourhood Plan Area under Section 61G of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended) and this was advertised on 1 June 2012.
