Recruitment and Development
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is one of the smallest in the country, the largest component of which are On-Call Firefighters. If you are interested in serving the community where you live, being part of a dedicated team and are fit and able to respond to any challenge put upon you at anytime, day or night - then why not think about joining as an On-Call Firefighter.
Prospective candidates must satisfy the following criteria:
- You must be of good character.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be physically fit, with good, unaided vision and not colour blind (some correction acceptable).
Ideally you must:
- Live and/or work close to your local fire station.
You will be paid an annual fee and additionally for each call you attend, as well as for any training sessions that are required.
Vacancies are advertised in local and national media and on the Isle of Wight Council website.
