Service Update - COVID-19

Cowes Maritime Museum will be open on the following days:

  • Monday (10am -12.30 - 1pm - 5pm)
  • Tuesday (10am -12.30 - 1pm - 5pm)
  • Friday (10am -12.30 - 1pm - 5pm)
  • Saturday (10am - 4.30pm)

 

The museum is situated within Cowes Library. For information on Cowes library please visit the Cowes Library  web pages.

To help keep you safe whilst in the museum

  • Visitors are encouraged to wear face coverings
  • A QR code is available or you can leave your details to register your visit with NHS Test and Trace
  • Some Interactive exhibits have been removed
  • Please do not visit if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been told to self-isolate

The Museum displays a selection of objects and images which tell the story of Cowes and its maritime heritage. You can see Uffa Fox’s  dinghy, Avenger,  and models of vessels built by J. Samuel White  & Co Ltd of Cowes. The Museum has an extensive photographic and paper archive. The archive depicts yachting and the shipbuilding industry in Cowes. The reserve collection is held within the museum store. This is accessible by appointment only. The museum is situated within Cowes Library and is free to enter. The library also houses a collection of maritime related books.
