COVID-19 Update

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the expiry date of all valid paid for permits purchased on or before 01 April 2020 has been automatically extended by 3 months.
As an additional 3 months has been added to all valid permits prior to April 2020, you should note your new expiry date and apply for your new permit accordingly. 
The table below can be used as a reference tool for 12 month parking permits and provides the new expiry dates.

The Isle of Wight Council (Parking Places) Order sets out the eligibility criteria for Resident parking permits. A maximum of two permits per postal address can be issued to a resident (and owner of the vehicle) who lives:

  • In a street or esplanade that has pay and display parking (see schedule 2 of the above order) or
  • within a 100 metre radius of Cowes Parade or a 200 metre radius of a car park (see schedule 3 of the above order).

Resident Pay and Display on-street permit

Permits will be issued at the cost of £72 for the first permit and £100 for the second permit.

A resident of the following locations can purchase a permit to park in the pay and display on-street area in which they live.  The permit will not be valid for parking in any other location

  • High Street, Newport
  • Holyrood Street, Newport
  • Lugley Street, Newport
  • Pyle Street, Newport
  • Quay Street, Newport
  • Orchard Street, Newport
  • Esplanades

Resident Permit – The Parade

A resident (and owner of the vehicle) living within a 100m radius of Cowes Parade may apply for up to two permits to park within the designated pay and display bays on Cowes Parade. The permit will not be valid for parking in any other location. 

Permits will be issued at the cost of £72 for the first permit and £100 for the second permit.

Resident Permit – 200 metre radius Car Park

A resident (and owner of the vehicle) living within a 200 metre radius of a council car park may apply for up to two permits to park within the designated pay and display bays within the one named car park. The permit will not be valid for parking in any other location. 

Permits will be issued at the cost of £199 (£99.50 for 6 months) for the first permit and £265 (£132.50 for 6 months) for the second permit. Please note that the charge for this permit is inclusive of VAT at the standard rate.
