Brighstone Church of England Primary - new resources provision

  1. Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, that Isle of Wight Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to BRIGHSTONE CE PRIMARY SCHOOL, New Road, Brighstone, Newport PO30 4BB (category of school – voluntary aided) by increasing the capacity of the school, with effect from 1 September 2025.
  2. The objectives of the proposal are to provide a new 12 place resourced provision based at Brighstone CE Primary School to accommodate pupils in the primary age range (4–11) with autism spectrum (AS) and/or speech language communication needs (SLCN) on the Isle of Wight.
  3. The current capacity of Brighstone CE Primary School is 105 and it is proposed to create capacity at a new resourced provision at the school by offering 12 new places. This will not affect the overall capacity of mainstream places at Brighstone CE Primary School.
  4. The capital cost is estimated to be £0.03million.
