The Isle of Wight Council is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health and Safety Adviser to join our dedicated team. This is a key role supporting the Council’s commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, occupational health and wellbeing across all services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and implement health and safety policies and procedures
  • Provide expert Safety advice to managers and staff
  • Complete comprehensive safety audits of Council services, premises and schools
  • Review and investigate reports of accidents, incidents, and near misses
  • Deliver approved health and safety training packages
  • Conduct stress risk assessments and wellbeing surveys to support staff welfare.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a health and safety advisory role, ideally within a public sector, school or multi-service environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and support a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
