Here on the Isle of Wight, we are in year three of our strategy “Care Close to Home” (CCtH). The results so far have been impressive and earned us a place as a finalist in the health and care category of both the Local Government Chronicle and Municipal Journal 2019 awards.

We have been working hard at transforming our generic social work workforce into a special workforce focussing on - Long Term Conditions and Older People, Mental Health & Hospital Services, Learning Disability and Short-Term Resources.

We are well on the way on our integration journey with our health partners having established integrated locality teams across the island, an integrated complex discharge team within the hospital setting and are now moving forward with our models of integration for our Mental Health Team, Learning Disability Team and Resource Centre’s Rehab & Reablement.

But we have more to do and need an exceptional and experienced Group Manager to take forward our agenda in making the difference for those we serve across this beautiful Island.

You will manage and oversee the Initial Adult Social Care Contact (IASCC) Team to ensure that the people who are eligible and require support from Adult Social Care are provided with safe and timely support. You will work towards a strength-based model of practice to prevent a reliance on statutory intervention. You will safeguard the most vulnerable citizens on the Island, using the principle of making safeguarding personal. You will be leading the team on a programme of continual development and improvement, supporting and motivating staff to meet high standards of practice and service delivery. You will ensure that annual appraisal, development plans and supervision support of staff is implemented as per departmental guidelines ensuring staff have access to high quality training opportunities.
