The Public Health Team is seeking to appoint a Senior Public Health Practitioner to work within a small, busy team to commission services and implement aspects of the public health strategy. You will be working on 2-3 strategic topic areas and have the skill and experience to take on different portfolios as required.
Day to day tasks include supporting
• Commissioning services; supporting Principals in preparing needs assessments, specifications and working with procurement on tenders
• Strategy delivery; driving forward progress against the action plan
• Partnership working; work with a range of partner organisation in the NHS across the council and in voluntary and community organisations
The post involves the daily use of a range of IT packages including Microsoft teams enabling home working. After covid restrictions are lifted, there will be office based work and occasional working on the mainland in Southampton, Winchester and occasionally further away such as a day-long networking meeting in London.
Applicants should have good interpersonal and communication skills and be able to prioritise a demanding and varied workload. You will need to be self-motivated with good project management skills; a team player who displays commitment, flexibility and reliability.
You will have a masters in public health or similar. You will be or have the desire to work towards becoming a registered public health practitioner.
