The Isle of Wight Council is proud to be taking part in the new
Kickstart Scheme. The scheme creates new job placements for 16 to 24-year olds
who are on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.
Kickstart is more than just a job placement scheme. It is an opportunity
for you explore possible new career paths, boost your confidence in a working
environment and develop your transferable skills, making you an even better
candidate for future employment than you already are.
All Kickstart roles at the Isle of Wight Council provide training and
personal development, enabling you to take control of your own professional
development. You’ll be given time and space by your mentors to ease into
employment; so, whether this is your first job in a while, or your first job
full stop, you won’t have to worry about feeling out of place.
You are only eligible to apply for a Kickstart role if you fit the all
- You are aged 16 to 24 years old
- You are claiming Universal Credit
- You have been allocated at Work Coach with Jobcentre Plus

You cannot apply directly with the Isle of Wight Council for any of
these positions. To be considered, you
will need to speak with your Work Coach at Jobcentre Plus. Let them know you
are interested in joining the council for your Kickstart placement and they
will be able to give you the full job details and the reference number you will
need to apply for your chosen position.

phone or via your Universal Credit journal.
