Would you enjoy a role that is tasked with helping to constructively challenge, as a critical friend, the local authority’s decision making?
The Isle of Wight Council is recruiting for a Scrutiny Officer, who can work alongside the Statutory Scrutiny Officer, and who it is hoped through planned succession may eventually fill that statutory role.
This exciting and personally rewarding role is being offered as a career graded opportunity within a small and supportive team and we would welcome applications from any individual who holds at least the basic requirements set out in the job summary and who believes through personal development they would be capable of performing the higher role.
The successful candidate will be required to manage a diverse workload, with challenging or changing deadlines, with minimal supervision. The council will invest and support appropriate personal development, and the candidate will be expected to undertake any necessary training and development to fully satisfy the career graded milestones. They will work closely with elected councillors who have been appointed to the various overview and scrutiny committees, which are tasked with assisting with policy development and scrutinising decision making.
In return we can offer you a comprehensive benefits package including flexible working, a local government pension scheme, 31 days annual leave, employees discount benefits, and access to a range of technologies to support modern ways of working.
