A vacancy exists for a Housing Grant Assistant to join the busy Housing Renewal team, within Regulatory Services at the Isle of Wight Council.
You will be responsible for assisting clients with the completion of grant applications for disabled adaptation or repair work and helping them achieve satisfactory completed work by coordinating with contractors, building professional, grants and other council officers, and any necessary external agencies or people. You will need an eye for detail when undertaking site inspections, and an ability to review work completions and costings.
You will need an understanding of construction/building practices, including construction techniques and materials but of primary importance you must have excellent communication skills and be able to put people at ease, explain processes, and manage multiple pieces of information at one time. You will need a passion for helping vulnerable people, the ability to be tactful and think on your feet, be versatile, and able to perform well under pressure.
Ideally you will be able to use Uniform database system, training can be provided, but you must be proficient in all the usual Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel).

Must be educated to a minimum grade of C (4 to 9) in English and Maths or equivalent qualification or experience, and an NVQ in business administration, construction, civil engineering, architecture, or similar would be desirable.
You must possess a full current driving licence and use of a car for which a car user allowance is payable.
