St. George’s School is a unique provision for SEN as a secondary school for students with severe and complex needs.
T1 CLASS BASED LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANTS (Permanent FT positions)
Salary will range between Hay Grade 3 (£21,189 - £21,445 FTE per annum approx. £14,902 - £15,082 pro-rata per annum)
Full time positions are 31.25 hours per week and term-time only.
We are looking to appoint LSA’s to provide classroom assistance across the school to a range of students with special needs, some of whom exhibit challenging behaviour related to their learning difficulties. Applicants will need to be able to cope and manage in a challenging environment with special needs children.
Experience of a working knowledge of young people with autism and complex needs would be an advantage.
It is essential that applicants possess the following:
- A strong student focus holding safeguarding at the centre of their practice.
- Level 2 Maths and English qualification, or equivalent.

This role falls within the strategic partnership between the Isle of Wight Council and Hampshire County Council. Hampshire County Council has delivered, on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council, all of its children’s services functions and will continue to do so until 2023. The original five-year partnership arrangement under direction of the Secretary of State finished in 2018 but has been extended voluntarily by both local authorities for a further five years.
The management reporting line for this role is ultimately through Hampshire County Council Children’s Services Director/Assistant Director and managers who take operational responsibility for children’s services.
