An exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate to support families and children.

Broadlea Primary School is a 1.5 entry, community school on the southeast coast of the beautiful Isle of Wight. At Broadlea we have high expectations of all pupils and pride ourselves in striving for high attainment within a happy, safe, positive and caring environment.

We are seeking to appoint a motivated, well-organised person to be responsible for supporting and advising our children and families. Ideally, you will have experience of working with children, be familiar with the primary school environment, and have a relevant qualification or relevant experience.

We are looking for a FLO who:


·        has outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

·        is passionate to support in the delivery of change for families and children

·        has a high level of emotional resilience and intelligence

·        has a high level of confidentiality and professionalism

·        has substantial experience of working with children and their families in an educational, social or health setting


We offer motivated children who are keen to learn, a supportive community, high quality professional development (CPD) and support, including dedicated clinical supervision with an Educational Psychologist, and the opportunity to work with experienced and skilled staff across the school and the Island.

This role falls within the strategic partnership between the Isle of Wight Council and Hampshire County Council. Hampshire County Council has delivered, on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council, all of its children’s services functions and will continue to do so until 2023. The original five-year partnership arrangement under direction of the Secretary of State finished in 2018 but has been extended voluntarily by both local authorities for a further five years.

The management reporting line for this role is ultimately through Hampshire County Council Children’s Services Director/Assistant Director and managers who take operational responsibility for children’s services.
