If you are worried about your partner’s history, you can request information under Clare’s Law through the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS).

The police can share information about a person’s history of abusive or violent behaviour. This can help you make informed decisions about your safety.

Under Clare’s Law, you have two options

• Right to Ask - you can apply for information about your current or ex-partner if you’re worried they may pose a risk to you.
• Right to Know - the police may share information with you if they believe you are at risk.

To make a DVDS application, visit the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary website for guidance. You can also contact your local police station for help.
