Support for children and young people
Concerned about a child or young person?
In an emergency, always contact the police by calling 999
If you are worried about a child or young person who may be in danger, call 01983 823435
This number is available to the public 24/7.
If you have concerns about child abuse or the safety of a child, contact the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).
The MASH combines the expertise of professionals from social care, police, health services, and education to share information and make quick, informed decisions to protect children. This collaborative approach allows them to identify risks early, provide support, and ensure children’s safety.
The Isle of Wight Council and its partners have a legal responsibility to safeguard children, ensuring they receive the help they need.

Victim Care Hub
The Victim Care Hub provides support to children and young people across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. If a child has experienced abuse themselves or have witnessed it happening to someone they care about, help is available.
The Victim Care Hub offers:
- Support for children and young people aged 0 to 18 years who have been victims or witnesses of domestic abuse or other crimes
- Flexible ways to get help, such as face-to-face meetings, phone calls, or online support through Zoom, allowing individuals to choose what works best for them
- Help for 16- and 17-year-olds at standard risk of domestic abuse, whether it’s happening now or happened in the past
- Support for children and young people even if their parent or carer isn’t getting help themselves—so every child feels safe and supported
- Guidance and care for anyone affected by domestic abuse, whether the abuse is ongoing or in the past, and whether it has been reported to the police or not
The Victim Care Hub also has a dedicated caseworker based on the Isle of Wight. They focus on helping both children and young people affected by domestic abuse. This makes it easier to access face-to-face help.
And remember, the abuse does not define you.
Victim Support also offers the WeMatter programme. This is a video-based digital service for children and young people (CYP) who have been subjected to domestic abuse.
