Extra funding has been agreed by the Isle of Wight Council to enable the centre to continue providing vital support services at a time many Islanders are struggling against the rising cost of living.

Based in Newport, the independent charity offers free legal advice to those with housing, welfare benefits, debt and employment problems.

In recent weeks the council has worked closely with trustees to find a way forward after they announced the centre would close its doors for the final time at the end of August due to funding issues.

An agreement has now been reached which will see the Island's law centre remain open.

The council continues to progress the work around re-commissioning of community housing support from 1 April 2023 in-line with the law which governs its purchasing processes.
