Waste and recycling booklet out soon

Your annual waste and recycling booklet and collections calendar will be landing on your doormat soon.
Keep your eye out for your handy guide which contains full details on waste collections for your area, including:
A new addition this year is the battery collection service. We will now collect household batteries separately from your waste on your refuse week and take them for sorting and recycling – up to 90 per cent of a typical battery can be recycled. To make use of the service, place household batteries in a clear sandwich bag only and place on top of your black bin only. This service is only available for standard household batteries.
Natasha Dix, the council's strategic manager for contracts, waste and environment, said: "I can't say this enough - thank you to all our residents for really getting on-board with the reuse, reuse and recycle message, helping the Island to be in the top 25 per cent of recyclers in England.
"We could not have done it without you. And don't forget, if you are having difficulty with your waste and recycling or want to know how you can recycle more, we will do our best to help you — just get in touch!"
The Isle of Wight Council, in partnership with our waste service provider, Amey, will be posting booklets to residents throughout April.
Any households that do not receive a booklet by the start of May are advised to contact the council's waste and recycling team by emailing: waste.contract@iow.gov.uk or by calling (01983) 823777 to request a copy.
The booklets will arrive in an envelope marked with the Isle of Wight Council and Amey’s logos and will clearly state it contains important information about waste services - please keep a look out.
Alternative versions of the booklets, including large print, text only, black and white and brail can be provided on request using the contact details above. The booklet is also available in different languages.
