Organisations urged to connect with funders at Riverside Centre event
Published: 15 September 2025
Community groups and charities across the Isle of Wight are being invited to a special event designed to help unlock funding opportunities and strengthen local projects.
Meet the Funders, hosted at the Riverside Centre in Newport, will bring together a range of funding providers — from local grant-makers to national organisations — offering practical advice and direct support to those working to make a difference on the Island.
Organised by the Isle of Wight Council's Family and Community Team and Community Action Isle of Wight, the event aims to support both emerging grassroots groups and established charities in navigating the often complex world of funding.
“This is a brilliant opportunity for organisations to meet the people who can help bring their ideas to life,” said Teresa Brimble-Brennan, Supporting Families project officer.
“Whether you're seeking seed funding for a new initiative or looking to expand an existing project, this event is all about making meaningful connections.”
Attendees will be welcomed with an introduction to the day’s programme, which includes a series of presentations from key funders such as the Isle of Wight Council (covering the Community Capacity Grant, Household Support Fund, Short Breaks, and the Holiday Activities and Food Programme), the Isle of Wight Foundation – Island Roads, and others including the Hampshire and IW Foundation, Arts Council, National Lottery, and Past Futures Heritage Grants.
The morning will be split into two presentation sessions, with a refreshment and networking break at 11.10am. Lunch will be available at 12.55pm for £5 per person, payable on the day, and must be booked in advance.
From 1.30pm, the afternoon will focus on practical support through one-to-one appointments with funding representatives, which must be booked in advance.
These include opportunities to speak directly with representatives from the National Lottery, Isle of Wight Council, the Arts Council, and other grant providers.
In addition, three workshops will run throughout the afternoon, each limited to 20 participants and lasting one hour.
These include a bid writing session led by Zoryna O’Donnell, a business resilience workshop with Colm Watling, and a collaborative working session facilitated by Fiona Gwinnett. Each workshop will be offered in two time slots to allow flexibility for attendees.
The event takes place on Wednesday 8 October, running from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Spaces are limited, and attendees are encouraged to register no later than Wednesday 1 October to secure their place.
