Records Office will be closed for essential maintenance
Published: 15 October 2025
The Isle of Wight County Records Office will be closed for essential maintenance works on Monday 20 October until late November.
Whilst the building is closed there will be a limited enquiry service available, however this will fully resume once the office re-opens. The Record Office welcomes enquiries during this time and encourages people to get in touch with any queries. The team will endeavour to assist where possible, although please note that copying facilities will not be available during this time.
Catalogues to many of the collections will remain available through the Discovery Catalogue of The National Archive https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk. The FindMyPast website and the British Newspaper Archive are available to view through local libraries.
Regular updates along with re-opening dates will be announced on the council’s website and Facebook page.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and the team look forward to welcoming residents back to the Record Office later in November.
Should you need to contact the Record Office, please email record.office@iow.gov.uk or call the team on 01983 823820.
