Safeguarding Adults Refresher

Target Group:

For any frontline practitioner that has attended safeguarding adults training previously and requires a refresher to maintain their competencies. In particular this is suitable for those working in social care services that have any direct contact with adults.



Course Aims:

A half day courses designed to give attendees a refresher on the topic of safeguarding adults, and what responsibilities each attendee has in their own workplace. It also supports attendees to identify ways to improve their own practice.



Intended Impact:

By the end of this course you will:

•Review how “Making Safeguarding Personal” relates to your own practice to achieve the outcomes the person wants
•Refresh on the definition of ‘adult at risk’ and the 6 statutory safeguarding principles
•Review the types of abuse and symptoms that could indicate that abuse might be occurring
•Know where to find the policies and procedures that are relevant to their own workplaces and review the resources for professionals available through the IOWSAB
•Understand about the ‘Family Approach’ and how this may impact on your own practice
•Reflect on case studies around the response to disclosure and actions you should take
•Review best practice in recording
•Identify ways to improve your own practice



Prerequisites:

You should be already familiar with your own workplace policy around safeguarding adults.
