Scam Warning Trading Standards have received a report from a care agency that one of their clients received a knock at the door yesterday (Monday) from a man in a white van who stated “he was just passing and noticed that the house needed some plastic caps replacing on the gable and he would do it for a reduced price”. Luckily the carer was able to turn them away. Be aware that these traders will identify potentially vulnerable residents and do their best to con them out of money for work that doesn’t need doing or for a bad job. We would like to remind residents again – NEVER engage with an uninvited caller either on the phone or at the door. If you think you need work doing to your property do some research and find a tradesman that can be trusted – either using the Trader approval Scheme or word of mouth. Check out our approved traders list at https://www.iwight.com/tas/ www.iwasp.org.uk
