Adult Social Care - Shared Lives

Frequently Asked Questions for this Service

Question: What is the matching process and how long does it take?

Answer: The Shared Lives Team collate information relating to the Shared Lives Carer, their home, their family and their local community during the assessment process which is carefully matched with the preferences obtained from the individual’s referred for support into the Shared Lives Scheme. Once a potential match is identified, a number of introductory meetings will take place. This could be meeting for a cup of tea, an evening meal, an overnight stay leading to a short stay before any long-term arrangements are agreed. There is no set time frame for these introductions and we depend on the feedback provided by the individual and the Shared Lives carer as to when everyone is happy with the more formal arrangement.
