Covid-19 Update

Births

We are now contacting parents of babies born in May and June 2020 to register for this month. For babies born in July please call 01983 823233 option 1 to be booked in from 10th August 2020 onwards.

If you would like to leave contact details for a baby born in May or June please email registrars@iow.gov.uk.

All appointments will be subject to strict social distancing and hand hygiene procedures.

Notices of Marriage or Civil Partnership

A limited service for taking notices will resume from 15th June strictly for ceremonies already booked with us in July, August or September 2020. No appointments will be available for ceremonies scheduled more than 3 months ahead. We will be contacting couples directly to book you in.

All appointments will be subject to strict social distancing and hand hygiene procedures.

Deaths

Registrars continue to register deaths by telephone.

Copy Certificates

Copy certificate requests will resume from 15th June. Orders must be placed using our online service. No orders will be taken over the phone and priority will be given to events registered in 2020. Events registered earlier than 2020 will be subject to a 10 day turnaround time. All certificates will be posted – there is no facility to collect in person.

The Isle of Wight Register Office is situated at Seaclose Offices, Fairlee Road, Newport. The Registration Service is responsible for the registration of births, deaths,  marriages  and civil partnerships occurring on the Island, licensing venues where civil ceremonies may be solemnised and conducting civil  ceremonies.

These pages are designed to give you all the information you need to register a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership, book a ceremony or obtain a copy of a certificate. We have also included some additional links and names and addresses of related services.

The Register Office holds all  the Isle of Wight birth, death and marriage registers dating from 1 July 1837 to the present day. In addition all Isle of Wight civil partnership records from 2005 onwards are held. It is possible to request a copy certificate from any archived register.
