Survey on early years childcare places

To help understand current and future childcare services on the Island, the council would like to hear the views and experiences of parents and carers.
With parental choice one of the most influencing factors that affects the childcare market’s demand and supply, the results of the survey will help the council produce a statutory report known as the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment, which will outline how it intends to meet childcare needs on the Isle of Wight.
The council is looking for views from all parents and carers of primary aged children about how they use childcare, how this has changed over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic, and how this may continue to change in the future.
The childcare options covered by the survey include pre-schools, nurseries, childminders, before and after school clubs and holiday clubs.
Councillor Debbie Andre, Cabinet member for children’s services said: “I would like to encourage parents to take part in this survey and help us plan the future of early years childcare on the Island. We want to make sure children and their families can access high quality childcare and early education to achieve the best outcomes in life.”
