Approved venues
To get married at an approved venue you need to contact the venue first and agree a provisional date. Once you have a date you then need to book a ceremony with us.
The Isle of Wight has many licensed premises covering a variety of hotels and historic buildings. We also provide ceremonies at our Seaclose site. For details of our approved venues view our interactive venue map.
If you choose an approved premise elsewhere in England or Wales you should contact the Superintendent Registrar of the district where it is located to confirm availability.
Outside ceremonies
The law of this country does not allow for a ceremony to take place outside. All the legal requirements of a ceremony must be held within a permanent, immovable structure, with a fixed roof and solid floor. This needs to be large enough to accommodate the couple, two registrars, both witnesses and a table large enough to prepare the paperwork.
Several venues have outside structures and we are happy to try and accommodate ceremonies in an outside garden structure between 1 March and 31 October.
If you would like your ceremony to take place in an outside structure, advise the registrar when you complete your legal paperwork.
