Citizens Advice, Isle of Wight

Direct financial support to pay gas, water and/or electricity bills, potentially including arrears

Funds have been allocated to support the most vulnerable households on the Island with their utility and water costs. Low-income households will be able to apply for financial support through Citizens Advice Isle of Wight, alongside broader support and advice.

What is on offer?

Direct financial support with utility costs and water costs, potentially including arrears. The value of any individual funding award will be dependent upon individual circumstances.

Who is eligible?

Eligibility is means-tested by Citizens Advice Isle of Wight using recent bank statements. Residents applying for assistance due to a benefit sanction will need to provide confirmation of this.

Duration of availability

From 19 June 2023 to 31 March 2024

Application Based Food Support

Citizens Advice will become the single point of contact for Island residents to understand the various support schemes available to them through the programme. Individuals not eligible for the support schemes mentioned, will be able to apply for food vouchers through Citizens Advice.

Footprint Trust

Advice and support with reducing energy costs.

What is on offer?

The Footprint Trust have been funded to provide an outreach service giving guidance and support to residents on how to reduce their energy costs. They will also be able to assist with offering those in genuine need energy-efficient white goods, domestic insulation to help lower the cost of energy and water butts to reduce water bills.

They are also able to provide planters, compost and vegetable seeds which will assist residents in the long-term in reducing their food bills.

Who is eligible?

The Footprint Trust are looking to assist all those in need across the Island.
