What is the role of Ryde Neighbourhood Board?

The Ryde Neighbourhood Board is an independent partnership established as part of the government’s Plan for Neighbourhoods—a national initiative designed to empower local communities to shape regeneration and investment in their areas.

The Board brings together representatives from local government, public services, community organisations, and the private sector to help guide Ryde’s long-term priorities and ensure that local voices are central to decision-making.

Although the Isle of Wight Council (IWC) acts as the accountable body - responsible for managing public funds and ensuring compliance with government requirements - the Board itself operates independently of the Council.

It sets its own agenda and works collaboratively to support Ryde’s development and community wellbeing.

As part of its accountability role, the IWC hosts and publishes key governance documents for the Board, including:

  • meeting agendas
  • approved minutes
  • Terms of Reference
  • other relevant papers

These documents will be made available on this page and updated regularly, in line with government transparency requirements.
