We usually charge Council Tax for empty properties.

Council Tax rates for empty properties

For properties that have been empty for less than two years, you will have to pay the same amount of Council Tax you would normally pay if the property was not empty.

For properties that have been empty for between two to five years, you will have to pay double the amount of Council Tax you would normally pay.

For properties that have been empty for five to ten years, you will have to pay triple the normal rate.

For properties that have been empty for over ten years, you will have to pay four times the normal rate.
